I grew up in Newcastle and was educated in Ponteland. My wife and I moved to live in York in 1987 and have lived there ever since. I have two grown up children who went through York’s educational establishments.
Professionally I worked in Financial Services for 39 years until I took early retirement at 57 years of age in 2017. I am currently enjoying my retirement and play golf on a regular basis and also take interest in Cricket and Football. On the Voluntary side, I was involved in the Charity sector with a local Charity for 21 years as Treasurer and for a further 8 years as Chair until March 2020. I was invited to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on 1st June 2017 for my services to Charity.
I was asked by the Tadcaster Chair of Governor’s if I would be interested in joining the Primary Academy as a Governor on leaving my Charity role and was looking for a new challenge. My experience in risk roles, business and finance in Managerial roles and senior Charity roles will be used in helping the Academy to progress further in the future and as a parent I know how important the early years of a child’s education is.
